Race Series Experience

Description

A opportunity within Motorsport would be a dream come true for myself.  I have always loved Motorsport, having a great passion for both racing and the technical details.  I am very happy to say this passion is also developing into a very interesting and enjoyable career.  I have been involved in Motorsport from the age of fourteen, in many forms, such as, competing, Marshalling and Scrutineering.  This has allowed me to see the business and lifestyle of Motorsport.  From this passion for Motorsport I have a great enthusiasm, curiosity and therefore drive to investigate and explore this wonderful world further.

My academic background has also let me express this interest and passion.  Studying a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering at Ulster University gave me the basis for this career.  I am very pleased to say this resulted in a first class honours, including a distinction with Diploma in Professional Practice and an EDGE award.  This then enabled me to secure a position on the highly respected Advanced Motorsport Engineering MSc at Cranfield University which I am currently studying.

My Placement year, at Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, also enabled me to see the operations and business of a leading company within a certain sector.  This then gave me invaluable insight and experience at this early stage in my career.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

William Thompson
